Endless Roses

12"x 16", Acrylic on paper For many years when my father was still alive, our family had an annual garden party in June where we celebrated the prolific blooming of all the garden roses.  Besides the beauty and fragrance of roses, I have always been amazed at how one rose amidst a sea of endless [...]

Bed Of Roses

12"x 16", Acrylic on paper The garden at our farm is full of roses...my step-mother's passion. There are at least six beds dedicated to just roses while roses are scattered throughout the garden beds and along the fence. This painting is just one snippet of a bed of roses in many colors.   Giclee Prints [...]

Lavender Row

10"x 14", Acrylic on paper We had one long row of lavender planted in the farm garden. Every summer, when the lavender was at its peak of color and scent, hundreds of white butterflies would descend to drink its fragrance. The sweet smell of this lavender row would spill across the whole garden, and entice [...]

Red Chairs At Evening

22"x 30", Acrylic on paper I never found it difficult to find inspiration for a painting. The great painter, Robert Henri, said that inspiration was all about training your eye and soul to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. While the red chairs on my front lawn were an ordinary site, a descending dark storm [...]

Tropical Country Garden

18"x 24", Acrylic on paper My step-mother, Ann Mari, loved to experiment with new plants and flowers in our farm garden. One spring she bought some very exotic looking plants to mix in with the colorful perennials. By August we had a veritable, tropical country garden.   Giclee Prints 9x 12 $108.00 USD 14x 20 [...]

Shade In The Orchard

12"x 16", Acrylic on paper The flower and vegetable beds in our farm garden surround the orchard trees that provide a heavenly expanse of shade in summertime. Resting in the shade of the orchard often became a contemplative time for life's polarities: light versus dark, cool versus hot, subtle versus bold, good versus evil. I [...]

Stonewall By The Garden

22"x 30", Acrylic on paper In the summer of 1993, I painted a series of 25 paintings to honor my step-mother's magnificent garden on our farm. I exhibited the series at a gallery in the spring of 1994, and my father bought this painting. I am certain he chose this one, not only for the [...]

Moonbeam

9"x 12", Acrylic on paper These tiny clusters of brilliant yellow flowers graced the farm garden with their electric luminescence. Their round shrub appearance remained illuminated even after sundown, sending out beams of light like the moon at night. These flowers are appropriately called moonbeam.   Giclee Prints 9x 12 $108.00 USD 12x 16 $192.00 [...]

The Sycamore Tree

Watercolor, 15"x20"   We have a big Sycamore tree by the pond on our family farm. When we were kids, our dad made us a swing rope that hung from one of the big branches looming out towards the water. He put knots in the rope along with a small, round wooden seat at the [...]

Rain Coming

Acrylic on paper, 12"x16" I owned a beautiful, old stone house once with a big front porch. I loved to sit on that porch in summer and watch the summer storms blowing in from the west. The sky would change colors, the trees would begin to dance in the wind and I would get excited [...]
