A few weeks ago I was walking on the beach in the early morning with my painter friend, Richard, and it was cold. We were talking away while my dog was bouncing in and out of the water. What is it that causes you to turn your head and look elsewhere while you are deep in conversation? This time, it was the most beautiful sea urchin shell in shades of green sitting poised to find a new home in my studio window. It was so perfectly intact, and all I could wonder is how such an intricate, delicate shell makes its way to the shore in one piece. I must have heard its voice calling me so I turned my head, and felt like I had found gold. It was such a gem find. I am honoring it with a design.
