There is controversy as to whether Mary Magdalene was just a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ or whether she was in fact his wife. We may never know. But as a woman in those times, she represented the divine feminine aspect of all the spiritual teachings that Christ brought to the world. For many today, she represents the feminine that the church has always sought to exclude. The divine feminine energy must be honored and embraced if we are to balance the patriarchal dominance that troubles our world.
