Bananas

Acrylic on paper, 22″ x 30″

I grow lots of bananas here on my Florida farm. The big, pinkish-red flower bulb appears before the fruit, which slowly forms along the long cascading flower stalk. Little by little, the petals of the flower fall off, until the last one signals the bananas are ready to pick, ripen and enjoy.
