The Blue Rocker

Acrylic on paper, 12″x16″
I have been to the Bahamas many times. I have fond memories there of sailing, snorkeling, conch fritters and banana daiquiris. I spent one day on the island of Eleuthera walking every street, and shooting photos of those scenes that catch your eye and speak to your soul. I particularly loved the blue rocker on the porch of a pink house with a turquoise door. A few nights later I was walking by this house on the way to dinner. There was a very, old woman rocking in that blue rocker. I had some nice shells I had found on the beach in my bag. I said good evening to her, told her I was going to do a painting of her blue rocker and we got to talking. I gave her one of my shells. She loved it.
