Cape Cod Summer

22″x 30″, Acrylic on paper

I spent part of the summer on Cape Cod once, and rented a beach house on the half moon bay across from Provincetown in Truro. While the cape is far above the equator, the natural world there lends itself to a tropical feel in summertime when everything is alive and blooming. I chose the bay side over the ocean because the sea water is quite cold compared to the warmer bay water. My boys and I would make regular outings walking down the beach, climbing on the big dunes and exploring trails through the vegetation. We often came to overlooks where we could see across the landscape and the bay to Provincetown. It was a magical Cape Cod summer.
