There is a most magnificent view when you descend the mountains near Abiquiu of the bend in the Chama river and the valley. Amidst the brown and earthen landscape comes a lush, green paradise that stretches as far as the eye can see in following the river. For me it is always a powerful reminder of the life given to the land by water, and how the life nourishing element of water brings the land alive. In a place where water is so scarce, water becomes sacred.
